Hyperhidrosis Treatment in Toronto
Effective Solutions For Excessive Sweating
Hyperhidrosis Treatment
Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating well beyond what’s needed for normal temperature regulation — often concentrated in the underarms, palms, feet, or scalp, and frequently resistant to over-the-counter and even prescription-strength antiperspirants. For clients whose sweating affects clothing choices, confidence, or daily routines, Botox-based treatment offers a well-established medical option that goes beyond topical products.
What Are the Benefits of Hyperhidrosis Treatment?
Using medically approved techniques, including Botox injections and targeted therapies, we help control sweat production, improve comfort, and restore confidence for daily activities and social interactions.
- Reduces excessive sweating in targeted areas.
- Minimally invasive with safe, fast procedures.
- Improves quality of life by preventing discomfort, odor, and skin irritation.
- Long-lasting results, typically lasting several months per session.
Hyperhidrosis treatment is ideal for individuals experiencing excessive sweating that affects daily life, work, or social confidence. Candidates should be generally healthy and not allergic to treatment components such as Botox.
How to Prepare for this Treatment?
Before your treatment, avoid using deodorants, lotions, or antiperspirants on the treatment area. Keep the skin clean and dry. During your consultation at ViViDerma Cosmetic Clinic, our specialists will assess your sweating patterns and recommend the most effective treatment plan.
How Botox Treats Excessive Sweating
Sweat glands are activated by nerve signals. Botox injected into the affected area blocks these signals at the source, temporarily preventing the sweat glands in that area from being triggered — this is a well-studied use of Botox distinct from its cosmetic wrinkle applications, and in fact is one of the original medical (non-cosmetic) uses of the treatment.
Areas Commonly Treated
- Underarms (axillary hyperhidrosis) — the most commonly treated area
- Palms of the hands — for clients whose sweating affects work, handshakes, or daily tasks
- Soles of the feet — addressing excess sweating that affects footwear and comfort
- Scalp and hairline — a less common but treatable area for some clients
What to Expect During Treatment
The treatment area is mapped with a simple test (sometimes using an iodine-starch solution to visualize the most active sweat glands), then a series of small injections are placed across the area in a grid pattern. Palms and soles can be more sensitive than underarms, and topical or local numbing may be used for comfort in these areas.
Results and How Long They Last
Most clients notice a significant reduction in sweating within a few days to a week after treatment, with results typically lasting four to six months — considerably longer than Botox’s typical duration for wrinkle treatment, since sweat glands don’t “relearn” activation as quickly as facial muscles regain movement. Repeat treatments are needed to maintain results long-term.
Is This Treatment Right for You
This treatment is best suited to clients with a genuine hyperhidrosis pattern — sweating that’s disproportionate, localized, and not adequately controlled by antiperspirants — rather than normal sweating during exercise or heat. A consultation helps confirm whether Botox is likely to help your specific pattern, or whether further medical evaluation is warranted first.
